# emonica
Electronic MIDI harmonica: you blow into it, a slider picks the note. Low-cost, easy to build and open source. Entered in the 2018 Hackaday Prize (Musical Instrument Challenge). Inspired by the Millioniser 2000 from the early 80s.
How it works
- MPXV5010GP pressure sensor detects blowing and drawing and calibrates itself at startup.
- A slider with two fork light sensors selects the note position.
- Above a pressure threshold the device sends MIDI notes, optionally MIDI CC (e.g. filter or expression).
- Scale, root and top note, channel and eight presets are adjustable.
Hardware
Teensy 3.2 · 0.96" OLED (I²C) · 6 tactile switches · 2 fork light sensors · MPXV5010GP · 3D-printed case · PCB optional (perfboard works too).
